Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion

The Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion is celebrated at noon today. Father Jan Schmidt, Rector of the Cathedral Basilica, will preside.  The reading of the Passion according to Saint John is proclaimed, solemn intercessions are prayed and the faithful are invited to venerate the Cross. The service ends with the reception of Holy Communion consecrated at the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. Music is sung by the Cathedral Basilica Choir.

Good Friday Collection ~ This annual collection is to be taken up in all churches and chapels at the Good Friday liturgy. The proceeds offer hope to the Holy Land Christians by providing funds for their parishes, their academic institutions, and religious education programs; and provide funds for the preservation of sacred shrines in the Holy Land.
