Mass Intentions

A person may ask a priest or a parish to offer a Mass for a particular intention; a stipend of $5 is given to the priest or parish for offering the Mass, which thereby in justice creates an obligation which must be satisfied. The origins of this practice date to the early Church.

When we face the death of someone, even a person who is not Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of his soul and to offer our prayers are more beneficial and comforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet of flowers.

To have a Mass offered on the occasion of a birthday, anniversary or special need is appropriate, beneficial and appreciated. You can have Masses offered at the cathedral basilica for the living or the deceased.

Masses can be scheduled for your intentions at the Weekday Masses, Monday – Friday at 7:00am, 11:30am, & 5:15pm and Saturday at 11:30am, or at the Vigil Mass on Saturday and the Sunday Mass at 9:00am. The 11:00am Sunday Mass is always said for the Cathedral Parish.

Please understand that from time to time there may be a reason that requires us to cancel a Mass already scheduled. If that is necessary we will schedule it for another date.

If you would like to have a Mass intention scheduled, please print off this form and follow the instructions written on it – or you can call the Parish Office.
